Bendigo based duo The Bartholomeusz make expressive, slow-burning music. Classically trained cellist and composer Cally Bartlett incorporates live-looping techniques to build cinematic soundscapes filled with melodic hooks and intricate layers. Jazz-influenced drummer and composer Brendan Bartlett adds light-touch live drums and textures progressively building The Bartholomeusz sound. Cally and Brendan performed extensively together in 2000's rock band Sunny Disposition. Individually, Cally is a prolific orchestral composer, arranger and conductor as well as an accomplished string player and educator. Brendan has composed and performed on a variety of instruments with The Funk Junkes, Honk Tank and Cheese Excursion among others. The Bartholomeusz live sets blend a mix of original compositions and unique interpretations of rock and pop classics.
